Responsibilities
- Direct the daily workflow, staffing coordination, and overall performance of a tax and accounting office serving a diverse client base.
- Build and maintain strong client partnerships, acting as a key point of contact while recognizing opportunities to broaden services and support business growth.
- Oversee the preparation and review of tax filings, stepping into hands-on production work when needed to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead, coach, and develop office staff, setting clear expectations and improving team productivity through training and mentorship.
- Resolve operational and client-related issues independently, providing practical solutions that keep leadership focused on broader business goals.
- Contribute to office and firmwide improvement efforts by strengthening processes, supporting integration activities, and helping teams adapt during periods of expansion.
- Monitor office performance and help drive revenue growth through sound management of client service delivery and internal operations.
- Use accounting and tax platforms, including QuickBooks and comparable tax software, to support efficient and accurate service execution.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in tax, public accounting, or a closely related services setting.
- Prior success managing a tax, accounting, or similar office is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop staff, and improve day-to-day operational effectiveness.
- Strong client-facing skills with experience cultivating relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
- Proven background in tax return preparation and review across a range of client needs.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks and tax software; experience with Drake, CCH ProSystem Fx, or CCH Sales Tax is beneficial.
- Knowledge of corporate tax returns, annual income tax provision work, and entity formation is valued.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical tax expertise, strong operational judgment, and the ability to guide staff while helping the office expand its client impact and performance. Active CPA or Enrolled Agent credential is highly preferred.
