Tax Manager, Core Tax Services
About the role
The Tax Manager, Core Tax Services advises clients on tax implications, evaluates alternative actions to reduce tax burden, identifies compliance methods, and acts as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. This role involves marketing, business development, and providing written tax advice.
Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance: Ensures compliance with authorities, minimizes tax burdens, and monitors engagement process.
- Research: Identifies and frames issues for research, prepares WTA and tax returns, and explains income tax provisions and uncertain tax positions.
- Tax Consulting: Assists with maximizing client benefits, developing efficient methods, and implementing STS assistance.
- Tax Specialization: Develops in-depth understanding of one or more areas of taxation and organizes internal CPE training sessions.
- Strategy Development: Introduces and develops new ideas to improve client and Firm positions, reviews tax implications, and offers alternative courses of action.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
Five (5) or more years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, required. Prior supervisory experience and industry expertise in one or more tax specialties are preferred. CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations) is required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, preferred; Masters in Accountancy or Taxation, preferred.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong capacity to work in a team environment, develop and manage a team of tax professionals, and effectively develop and maintain client relationships.
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clients.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, tax research databases, and tax compliance process software.

California Range: $112,000 - $150,000
Colorado Range: $104,500 - $115,500
Illinois Range: $105,000 - $130,000
Maryland Range: $113,000 - $120,000
Massachusetts Range: $120,000 - $127,000
Minnesota Range: $90,000 - $120,000
New Jersey Range: $115,000 - $140,000
Ohio Range: $105,000 - $150,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $125,000 - $155,000
Washington Range: $107,400 - $126,900
Washington DC Range: $120,000 - $140,000
