Tax Manager
Essential Functions
Manage all aspects of indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, property tax, unclaimed property, and business license requirements.
Oversee federal partnership tax compliance, including coordination and review of partnership workpapers, tax filings, and related supporting documentation.
Partner with external advisors and internal stakeholders on federal partnership matters, tax planning opportunities, and technical tax issues.
Work with various outside consultants who are engaged to complete sales and use tax and property tax filings.
Pull and provide sales data monthly for the sales tax consultants.
Cook with accounting staff for GAAP fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions to support annual property tax compliance.
Review and ensure accuracy of tax returns, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Monitor changes in federal, state, and local tax laws and implement necessary updates to maintain compliance.
Advise internal stakeholders on indirect tax and partnership tax implications of transactions, contracts, and new initiatives.
Lead tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
Identify opportunities for tax savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation.
Mentor and manage junior team members or external consultants.
As a point person for CSC to gather information for Secretary of State filings.
Respond to federal and state notices when received.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
CPA or MST preferred.
5+ years of progressive tax experience with a strong focus on indirect tax compliance (sales and use tax, property tax, unclaimed property, and business licenses) and exposure to federal partnership tax matters.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Demonstrated experience reviewing tax returns, workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation, as well as managing audits, notices, and inquiries from tax authorities.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations; ability to monitor legislative changes, identify tax savings opportunities, mitigate risk, and communicate tax implications clearly to stakeholders.
Experience working with external consultants, cross-functional accounting teams, and internal business partners to support filings, fixed asset reporting, and transaction-related tax analysis.
Highly organized with strong analytical, communication, and project management skills; proficiency in Excel and experience with tax and ERP systems preferred.
