Job Details
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tax Manager to join our team in a people leadership role. This individual will oversee tax compliance and planning while directly managing and developing a team of tax professionals. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, proven leadership experience, and the ability to build and manage client relationships in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Manage, coach, and develop Tax Seniors and Staff, including performance reviews and career development
- Delegate work effectively and oversee team workloads across engagements
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative team environment
- Support hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts
- Client Management & Advisory:
- Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for clients
- Lead engagements from planning through delivery
- Provide proactive tax planning strategies aligned to client needs
- Technical & Compliance:
- Review complex federal and state tax returns across individuals and entities
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality standards
- Research and resolve complex tax issues
- Manage IRS/state audits and notices
- Strategy & Growth:
- Partner with leadership on tax strategy and firm initiatives
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships
- Support business development and process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA required
- 6–10+ years of tax experience with team leadership
- Proven experience managing direct reports
- Strong client-facing and relationship management skills
- Deep knowledge of tax regulations
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
