Tax Manager
Position Summary
The Tax Manager leads complex tax engagements and mentors staff. This role is beyond compliance, focusing on strategic tax advisory, revenue expansion for the firm, and actionable insights that help clients grow their businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Manage complex tax engagements for corporate, partnership, and high-net-worth clients, ensuring GAAP compliance and audit readiness.
Drive firm revenue expansion by:
Identifying opportunities to upsell or cross-sell tax, advisory, or accounting services
Implementing value-added tax strategies that create new billing opportunities
Contributing insights to pricing, service design, and client retention strategies
Support client business growth by:
Providing actionable advice on entity structure, compensation, reinvestment, and cash flow strategies
Identifying opportunities for expansion, acquisition, or operational optimization
Acting as a strategic advisor to executives and owners, linking tax planning to business outcomes
Supervise, mentor, and train tax staff to ensure technical excellence and career development.
Implement quality control and review standards to maintain accuracy, compliance, and audit-ready deliverables.
Partner with the Director of Tax and COO to design workflows, KPIs, dashboards, and operational metrics.
Monitor engagement timelines, deliverables, and staff productivity to ensure all core KPIs and revenue targets are met.
Collaborate with other departments to deliver integrated solutions that support both client growth and firm profitability.

Revenue Contribution: Achieve or exceed targets for upsells, advisory engagements, and billing realization

Required Qualifications & Skills
CPA designation (required)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation (Master’s preferred)
5–8+ years of professional tax experience
Expertise in GAAP, accrual accounting, and complex tax planning
Strong leadership and mentoring experience
Proven experience with CEOs, business owners, and directors
Ability to identify revenue opportunities and translate tax strategy into client business growth
Preferred
Corporate, partnership, and high-net-worth taxation expertise
Experience managing multiple engagements and staff
Familiarity with modern tax and workflow management platforms
