About the role
We are a growing professional services accounting firm with offices north of Dallas and in Tulsa, OK. We are committed to providing the best financial services to our clients and due to growth, we are eager to add a skilled Tax Manager to our team of public accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee preparation, review and filing of federal, state, local and international tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with laws and deadlines.
- Lead and supervise a team of tax professionals: assign work, review deliverables, provide coaching, and support professional development.
- Manage multiple client engagements and projects, serving as primary client contact for tax planning, controversy, and audit support.
- Conduct tax research and provide technical guidance on complex tax issues, ensuring application of current tax laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize liabilities while aligning with business goals and risk tolerance.
- Cook up with public accounting firms and external advisors during audits, due diligence and special projects.
- Improve tax processes and leverage tax software and technology to increase efficiency and data quality.
- Prepare and present tax analyses, forecasts and recommendations to senior leadership and clients.
- Ensure adherence to firm policies, quality control standards and continuing education requirements for the team.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in tax with substantial public accounting experience (Big Four or national/regional firms preferred).
- Demonstrated technical expertise in taxation (corporate, partnership, trust/estate, individual) and experience managing tax compliance and planning.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; Masters degree (MBA or MTax) highly desirable.
- CPA licensure preferred; CMA or other professional credentials are a plus.
- Proven supervisory experience with ability to lead, mentor and develop staff; experience managing teams and workflows.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting complex tax issues to clients and senior management.
- Proficiency with tax software (e.g., CCH, UltraTax, Corptax) and Microsoft Excel; comfort adopting new tax technology solutions.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and commitment to professional and ethical standards.
