Tax Manager
Responsibilities
Maintains primary responsibility for overall direction and accountability for engagements, including timelines, budgets, staffing, and coordination of Senior Associates and Associates.
Oversees engagement execution, supporting Senior Associates in their role as primary day-to-day engagement leads.
Reviews engagement workpapers and related client deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm and professional standards.
Serves as the primary escalation point for engagement issues, technical matters, and client concerns.
Supervises and provides guidance to Senior Associates and Associates, including training, feedback, and performance development.
Specialized in one or more areas of the Firm’s practice.
Manages multiple engagements simultaneously and monitors open items to ensure timely completion.
Participates in proposals and other practice development or marketing activities, as appropriate.
Assists in the billing and collection process for assigned engagements or clients.
Participates as needed in administrative activities of the Firm.
Reviews complex tax returns and supporting workpapers prepared by Senior Associates and Associates.
Performs and reviews tax research and planning and communicates findings to clients and Firm leadership, as appropriate.
Assures compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Maintains firm confidentiality.
Follows firm policies by conforming to procedures outlined in the Associate Handbook.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of public accounting experience preferred.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Significant specialized or managerial experience may be considered in lieu of a CPA.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and firm-supported software applications.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop Senior Associates and Associates.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and priorities effectively.
- Willingness to remain current through continuing professional education and ongoing professional development.
