About the role
Typically, full time however HBK understands that students may need to attend classes during their internship and will provide a flexible schedule if needed. At HBK, the firm's internship program is designed to provide a valuable and challenging "hands-on" learning experience, to develop an understanding of the firm, the public accounting profession and to enhance the intern's formal education.
- Receiving training on federal and state tax preparation, tax research, tax laws, and HBK software.
- Attending a week-long 1040 Tax Training Program.
- Contributing to the firm by providing timely and high-quality work products.
- Working closely with all levels of HBK team members and will have many of the same responsibilities as a first-year associate.
- Working on various tax and audit projects.
- Gaining hands on training on how to prepare tax returns (individual and corporate).
- Gaining a better understanding of how public accounting firms operate.
- Getting a chance to improve your communication and interpersonal skills.
- Gaining knowledge on what it takes to be a successful public accountant.
- Gaining an understanding of how to work and meet demanding deadlines.
Requirements
- Must be Sophomore, Junior or Senior status majoring in accounting.
- Must have a minimum 3.25 GPA.
- Should have completed Intermediate accounting course and a minimum of one tax class.
- Excellent computer skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Must be team player.
- Must pass an employment background check.
Qualifications
Upon successful completion of the internship, students may be presented with a verbal offer for a second internship (Sophomores), or with a full-time offer of employment (Juniors) followed by a formal written offer letter.
