About the role
This position focuses on learning how to review, process, and adjust individual tax returns and related correspondence. The work supports accurate tax processing and helps ensure taxpayers receive clear responses based on their submissions.
Responsibilities
- Examine Returns: Review individual tax returns and verify amounts for accuracy
- Process Credits: Apply tax credits, adjust entries, and ensure correct allocation
- Review Documents: Check legal tax documents and resource materials to support accurate reviews
- Handle Correspondence: Respond to inquiries and adjust returns based on information received
- Resolve Payment Issues: Search for misapplied payments and ensure proper application in the tax system
- Support Corrections: Initiate transfer transactions when needed to update payments, credits, or returns
Schedule
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to three days a week after successful completion of the in-office training period of six months. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
Requirements
- Two years of general office work; or an equivalent combination of experience and training
- Ability to perform essential job functions
- Must pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment, including:
- Fingerprint-based federal records check
- PA State Police clearance
- Check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five years
- Citizenship/residency verification
- This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075)
