Location: New York, NY or Woodcliff, NJ or Miami, FL. Work Model: Hybrid – Minimum 3 days in office. Experience: 10+ years. Job Type: Full-Time.

We are seeking an experienced Tax Director – Trust & Estate to advise high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, and executors on complex Trust & Estate tax matters. This role will provide senior-level technical tax leadership across estate, gift, trust, and wealth transfer planning while also contributing to client relationships, practice development, and team growth.

Responsibilities

  • Advise high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, and executors on complex Trust & Estate tax matters.
  • Provide estate, gift, trust, and wealth transfer planning, including succession and charitable planning strategies.
  • Review complex fiduciary, estate, and gift tax returns for technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Research and advise on federal, state, and local tax issues affecting trusts and estates.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with high-net-worth clients and families.
  • Participate in proposals, client presentations, and business development activities.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the Trust & Estate tax practice.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop tax staff and managers.
  • Provide technical guidance, review, and oversight to the team.
  • Manage multiple client engagements and priorities while maintaining high-quality service.
  • Stay current on changes in tax legislation, regulations, and Trust & Estate practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of public accounting experience with significant Trust & Estate taxation experience.
  • Active CPA or EA is mandatory; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of: Fiduciary income taxation, Estate taxation, Gift taxation, Generation-skipping transfer (GST) taxation.
  • Proven experience advising high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, and estates.
  • Strong tax research, planning, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development experience.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to contribute to business development and practice growth.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax research platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MST, JD, or LLM in Taxation.
  • ProSystem fx experience.
  • Experience leading or growing a Trust & Estate tax practice.
  • Strong business development and client presentation experience.
