Tax Director (REMOTE) | Virtual Boutique CPA Firm

Advisory + Leadership role at a growing, fully virtual CPA firm. This position is ideal for an experienced tax professional who enjoys technical work but seeks a higher-level role—owning client relationships, advising business owners, developing the team, and shaping the tax practice’s growth. The firm focuses on closely held businesses, S-Corporations, Partnerships, and HNW individuals, emphasizing year-round relationships over transactional return preparation.

Responsibilities

• Final review of complex S-Corp, Partnership, Corporate, and HNW individual returns
• Year-round tax planning and advisory for business owners and HNW clients
• Serve as a senior technical resource for complex tax matters
• Own and develop key client relationships
• Mentor and develop Tax Seniors, Managers, and other team members
• Strengthen review processes, workflow, and overall delivery
• Partner directly with firm leadership on team development, process improvement, and continued growth
• Help create greater consistency and scalability as the firm expands

Requirements

• 8+ years of public accounting tax experience
• Strong background with closely held businesses, pass-through entities, and HNW individuals
• Significant tax review and planning experience
• Current or previous Manager, Senior Manager, or Director-level responsibility
• Comfortable leading people and owning senior-level client relationships
• Able to operate independently in a fully remote environment
• UltraTax experience strongly preferred
• Enjoys a fast-moving boutique environment and wants to influence practice operations

Pay

$170K–$200K base, depending on experience, plus performance bonus opportunity.
