About the role
We are looking for an experienced Tax Director/Manager - Corporate to lead key tax activities for a detail-focused services organization in Houston, Texas. This role oversees corporate income tax reporting and compliance, helping ensure filings, provisions, and related documentation are completed accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and review of the annual income tax provision, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with applicable accounting standards.
- Manage corporate tax compliance activities, including coordinating the timely completion and submission of required federal, state, and local filings.
- Oversee the calculation and reporting of corporate income tax obligations while maintaining supporting workpapers and documentation.
- Use ATX Tax Software and other compliance tools to organize tax data, prepare returns, and improve reporting efficiency.
- Monitor tax deadlines, regulatory updates, and filing requirements to reduce risk and maintain full compliance.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial information, resolve tax-related issues, and support reporting needs.
- Review tax processes and identify opportunities to strengthen controls, streamline workflows, and enhance overall accuracy.
- Support additional tax-related projects and operational initiatives as needed, including changes involving tax systems or compliance processes when applicable.
Requirements
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing annual income tax provisions in a corporate environment.
- Proven background managing corporate tax compliance and corporate income tax reporting requirements.
- Hands-on proficiency with ATX Tax Software and other tax compliance applications.
- Solid understanding of tax regulations, filing standards, and supporting documentation requirements.
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify issues, and deliver accurate tax reporting under deadline pressure.
- Strong organizational skills with careful attention to detail and follow-through.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
