About the role

The Tax Department Coordinator plays a key role in organizing and facilitating the tax practice. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The coordinator supports the tax department head in driving regional growth and ensures smooth operations through effective scheduling, coordination, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Update daily schedules in scheduling software and lead weekly regional scheduling meetings with staff and managers.
  • Oversee busy season scheduling to ensure smooth operations and manage the return workload for all colleagues.
  • Manage daily schedules for outsourced staff and promote the utilization of outsourced services across the region.
  • Track staff utilization and realization metrics, and coordinate training and development programs for outsourced and shared resources teams.
  • Conduct weekly reports to showcase the movement of returns and associated utilized hours.
  • Organize department meetings, plan and facilitate welcome happy hours, team-building activities, and internship events.
  • Coordinate the annual department retreat.
  • Develop workflow documentation and written materials outlining the return process from start to finish.
  • Coordinate onboarding training and activities for new hires, and plan and manage national tax training sessions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate.
  • 1–2 years of public accounting experience or experience supporting a professional services firm.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the tax process and team environments is preferred.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer for extended durations.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technology experience.
  • Experience in a public accounting or other professional services environment.

Work Environment

  • Professional office environment with minimal distractions.
  • Little travel is required for this position.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $52,000 to $55,000.
