Tax Analyst
Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy, Inc., a leading clean-energy company, is seeking a candidate to join our team in the area of state income tax.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares and reviews federal/state/local income tax returns, schedules, extensions and payment estimates in line with the company’s tax filing calendar
- Researches inquiries from government agencies regarding filings, compliance, and other claims
- Prepares tax calculations to support tax controversy analyses
- Prepares complex unitary and standalone tax returns
- Prepares estimated tax payments and extensions
- Identify and execute process improvement initiatives
- Provides technical and analytical support for M&A activities, tax planning initiatives, legislative monitoring and influencing, FIN48, state audits
Qualifications
- 2+ years of corporate income tax experience
- Working knowledge of ASC740 income tax accounting
- Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to streamline processes and perform data analytics
- Basic tax research skills with a high level of competency with tax research products
- Solid communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong analytic and problem solving skills
- Accustomed to working in a team environment
- Demonstrate a high level of engagement
Job Overview
This job is responsible for moderate to complex projects associated with the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of all or specifically assigned tax returns, separate company corporate income tax and partnership tax returns, consolidated tax returns and related reports.
Job Duties & Responsibilities

- Credits financial and economic analyses, developing and preparing the organization’s financial plans and budgets and interpreting financial reports and tax returns

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience: 2+ years
- Preferred Qualifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Master's - Accounting / Finance, Tax Compliance, Tax Research
Supporting Medical or Religious Documentation
Where applicable and permitted by applicable law, supporting medical or religious documentation will be required.
