Tax Accountant - Income Tax (Onsite)

Essential Duties

  • Prepares and assists with filing federal and state tax returns for partnerships, private foundation, trust and individuals.
  • Prepares K-1 activity journal entries and year-end closing entries; preparation of journal entries related to tax accounting; and preparation of monthly partnership accounting for investment partnerships.
  • Accurately prepares quarterly estimates and annual tax reports.
  • Reconciles federal and state tax accounts and prepares journal entries.
  • Calculates and prepares Texas Gross Margin Tax for inclusion in annual tax provision for audit, annual tax return filings and reconciliation of state tax accounts.
  • Develops inter-department relationships and interface with personnel to ensure that tax information acquired from other departments is accurate and timely.
  • Affords assistance in responding to inquiries from regulatory agencies.
  • Works in a team environment to ensure accurate and timely completion of all Federal, State and local tax filings.
  • Absorbs ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Researches technical tax issues and compose memorandums to document analysis.
  • Keeps up to date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Accounting or relevant field from an accredited four-year college or university required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of public or corporate tax experience.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with Workday, BNA Tax Management, RIA, OneSource Income Tax, CCH. Prosystem fx and CCH Workpaper Manager software preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to details, and be able to multitask.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to use basic office equipment, including copy machine, personal computer, and fax.
  • Able to type 35 WPM.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time performing sedentary activities.
  • Able to stand, stoop, and kneel to file for long periods of time.
  • Able to push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs. of files, supplies, documents, or other related items.
