Essential Duties
- Prepares and assists with filing federal and state tax returns for partnerships, private foundation, trust and individuals.
- Prepares K-1 activity journal entries and year-end closing entries; preparation of journal entries related to tax accounting; and preparation of monthly partnership accounting for investment partnerships.
- Accurately prepares quarterly estimates and annual tax reports.
- Reconciles federal and state tax accounts and prepares journal entries.
- Calculates and prepares Texas Gross Margin Tax for inclusion in annual tax provision for audit, annual tax return filings and reconciliation of state tax accounts.
- Develops inter-department relationships and interface with personnel to ensure that tax information acquired from other departments is accurate and timely.
- Affords assistance in responding to inquiries from regulatory agencies.
- Works in a team environment to ensure accurate and timely completion of all Federal, State and local tax filings.
- Absorbs ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Researches technical tax issues and compose memorandums to document analysis.
- Keeps up to date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Accounting or relevant field from an accredited four-year college or university required.
- CPA preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of public or corporate tax experience.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with Workday, BNA Tax Management, RIA, OneSource Income Tax, CCH. Prosystem fx and CCH Workpaper Manager software preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to details, and be able to multitask.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to use basic office equipment, including copy machine, personal computer, and fax.
- Able to type 35 WPM.
- Able to sit for long periods of time performing sedentary activities.
- Able to stand, stoop, and kneel to file for long periods of time.
- Able to push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs. of files, supplies, documents, or other related items.
