Accountant

We are looking for an Accountant to join a team in Overland Park, Kansas on a contract basis. This role focuses on supporting payment-related accounting activity, reviewing reconciliation items, and helping maintain smooth day-to-day processing operations.

Responsibilities

• Review payment activity to identify discrepancies, investigate exceptions, and support accurate resolution of overpayment-related issues.
• Perform account reconciliations and follow through on outstanding items to help maintain accurate financial records.
• Provide first-line assistance for routine user access requests and straightforward configuration updates tied to payment platforms.
• Monitor and manage a steady flow of reconciliation cases each week while ensuring timely follow-up and closure.
• Work with payment processing systems such as Paymentech, Orbital, and comparable tools to support daily operational needs.
• Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders to clarify transaction details, payment status, and reconciliation findings.
• Handle assigned work with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks effectively in an environment with limited management oversight.
• Support updates and maintenance activities related to client payment platform settings when required.

Requirements

• Experience with account reconciliation in an accounting or finance environment.
• Working knowledge of payment processing operations and related transaction terminology.
• Ability to investigate variances, analyze details, and resolve routine payment discrepancies.
• Comfortable providing basic Tier 1 support for access requests and simple system configuration changes.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tickets or work items consistently each week.
• Self-directed work style with the ability to operate independently and maintain continuity in day-to-day tasks.
• Familiarity with payment platforms such as Paymentech, Orbital, or similar systems is preferred.
