Tax Accountant
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of tax returns with accuracy and attention to applicable regulations and filing deadlines.
- Review financial records and supporting documents to ensure information is complete, consistent, and ready for tax reporting.
- Use UltraTax and Creative Solutions software to process tax data and maintain organized return documentation.
- Analyze client financial information in Excel to identify discrepancies, reconcile figures, and support return preparation.
- Communicate with internal team members and clients to gather missing details, clarify tax-related information, and resolve open items.
- Aid in tax planning and compliance activities by applying current tax rules and documenting relevant findings.
- Maintain clear workpapers and supporting files to promote efficient review and audit readiness.
- Stay informed on changes in tax laws, forms, and filing requirements that may affect client engagements.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably within a public accounting environment.
- Hands-on proficiency with UltraTax and Creative Solutions - UltraTax for tax preparation and related workflows.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to organize, analyze, and reconcile financial data.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance principles and reporting standards.
- High level of accuracy, organization, and follow-through when managing multiple assignments.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize deadlines and work independently while contributing to a collaborative team setting.
