Tax Accountant

A growing firm is seeking a Remote Tax Accountant to support a high-volume tax season through the upcoming filing deadline. This is a contract opportunity that will go through October 15th.

Responsibilities

• Prepare business tax returns (1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041)
• Communicate with clients to gather required documentation and resolve discrepancies
• Aid with bookkeeping cleanup as needed for accurate filings
• Review returns for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
• Interface with tax authorities as needed on client matters
• Manage multiple engagements and meet tight filing deadlines

Requirements

• At least 3 years of tax preparation experience, preferably within a public accounting environment
• CPA, Enrolled Agent, or working toward these designations is required; or 6+ years of recent experience may be required without a designation
• Hands-on experience preparing business tax returns and individual income tax returns for a variety of entity types
• Working knowledge of Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041, and related K-1 reporting requirements
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize, reconcile, and analyze financial and tax data efficiently
• Familiarity with QuickBooks and CCH ProSystem or similar tax software
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining clear communication with clients and internal stakeholders
• Understanding of complex tax topics such as rental real estate, partnerships, pass-through entities, and small business structures

Qualifications

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in public accounting, confidence handling complex business tax scenarios, and advanced spreadsheet skills to organize and analyze return data.
