Tax Accountant

Flagg & Company CPAs is an established public accounting firm in West Des Moines, Iowa. We provide individual and business tax preparation, small-business accounting, and consulting services. We are seeking dedicated, self-motivated Tax Accountants to join our growing team. This is a full-time, in-office position with opportunities for professional growth, performance-based compensation, and a potential path to partnership for the right candidate. Compensation The salary range for this position is $65,000–$100,000, based on education, experience, skills, and professional knowledge. Eligible employees may also earn an annual production-based bonus. Job Duties Work directly with clients to address tax and accounting needs, including income tax, payroll, sales tax, bank reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger review, and financial statement preparationPrepare accurate, well-organized workpapers that support tax returns, accounting work, and financial reportingRespond to routine client questions and provide timely, professional serviceResearch and resolve tax and accounting issuesAssist management with engagement planning, workflow coordination, and project managementDevelop and maintain strong, trusted client relationshipsStay current with tax, accounting, and professional standards through continuing education Qualifications And Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experienceAt least two years of tax and accounting experience in a public accounting firm preferredWorking knowledge of federal and state tax rules, GAAP, payroll requirements, and sales-tax rulesExperience with QuickBooks or Sage 50, Microsoft Office Suite, and income-tax preparation softwareStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilitiesHigh attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentialityAbility to prioritize multiple engagements, manage deadlines, and keep management informed of progressCommitment to producing high-quality work and reviewing your own work for accuracyProfessional, collaborative approach with clients and team membersFlexibility and a willingness to learn and grow Benefits Paid professional development and continuing educationPaid time offFlexible work hoursRetirement planHealth, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insuranceOn-site fitness centerAnnual production-based bonus opportunityPotential path to partnership Flagg & Company CPAs is an equal opportunity employer.
