Tax Accountant

Responsibilities

• Aid in tax compliance and preparation of federal, state, local, and business tax returns for various entities.
• Create and submit extensions, estimates, and related tax filings.
• Input and manage data in tax preparation software.
• Create and maintain tax workpapers and perform book-to-tax adjustments.
• Create and support depreciation schedules using fixed asset software.
• Resolve tax controversy matters by making phone calls to the IRS and state agencies to address notices and gather account information.
• Maintain organized and confidential tax files and documentation.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel to prepare clear and well-organized summary tables, charts, and basic pivot tables, and apply basic Excel formulas.
• Support audits, information requests, and internal reporting tasks.
• Assist senior tax team members with research and special projects.
• Perform other related duties and assignments as assigned to support the tax department.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• Preference is given to individuals with 1-3 years of federal and state partnership tax preparation experience in either public accounting or an in-house environment.
• An active CPA license or CPA candidate status is preferred.
• Experience with tax preparation software (such as UltraTax) and Microsoft Office (Excel) is required.
• Experience with QuickBooks and fixed asset software (Prosystems fx) is advantageous.
• The ability to work independently, take ownership, think critically, and meet deadlines is essential.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, are necessary.
• The ability to follow established procedures while appropriately escalating issues is important.
• A positive, proactive, organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented approach is required.
