Tax Accountant
About the role
Aston Carter is seeking a seasoned tax professional to prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, and closely held entities. This role involves managing all aspects of tax compliance and reporting for ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth clients, conducting in-depth tax research, and advising on tax-saving opportunities and planning strategies.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, and closely held entities.
- Manage all aspects of tax compliance and reporting for ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth clients.
- Conduct in-depth tax research utilizing Bloomberg Tax (BNA), IRS guidance, and other authoritative resources to support tax positions and planning strategies.
- Identify tax-saving opportunities and provide recommendations related to income, estate, gift, trust, and partnership taxation.
- Advise clients on the tax implications of investments, business transactions, real estate holdings, and wealth transfer strategies.
- Prepare tax projections and estimates to assist clients with financial and tax planning initiatives.
- Respond to federal, state, and local tax notices and assist with examinations and audits.
- Collaborate with attorneys, wealth advisors, family office personnel, and external stakeholders on tax-related matters.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and communicate potential impacts to clients and leadership.
- Maintain detailed workpapers and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and firm standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA required or strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of tax experience, preferably supporting high-net-worth individuals, family offices, private clients, or closely held businesses.
- Extensive experience preparing and reviewing complex individual, trust, estate, gift, and partnership tax returns.
- Advanced proficiency with Bloomberg Tax (formerly BNA) for tax research and technical analysis.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Experience with tax planning and consulting for high-net-worth clients.
- Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
