About the role
Operate and drive a tractor-trailer unit to one or more destinations. Work in the warehouse when deliveries are not required, performing tasks in an efficient, timely, and safe manner.
Responsibilities
- Assist with loading and unloading of the trailer
- Ensure the tractor and trailer are maintained (monitor gauges, check fluid levels and tire pressures)
- Possess and maintain a valid Class A Driver’s License issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles
- Possess and maintain an Interstate Commerce Commission Certificate for the operation of a tractor trailer and continuously meet requirements set by the NYS Thruway Authority for tandem tractor operation
- Operate a variety of materials handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
- Successfully complete OSHA forklift training and certification
- Obtain and maintain certification in CPR and comply with established safety procedures
- Respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as required
Requirements
- Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 45 pounds
- Flexibility to work in environments of fluctuating temperatures including limited periods outside, year-round
- Possess and maintain a valid license to operate a Class A motor vehicle in New York State and meet requirements of the New York State Thruway Authority for tandem trailer operation
- Obtain and maintain any driver’s license endorsements required under the New York State Department of Transportation’s regulations (e.g., Hazardous Materials endorsement)
Schedule
- Shift: 5:00am – 1:30pm
- Work hours: 20 to 37.5 hours per week
- Earliest start time: 5:00am
- Latest departure time: 1:30pm
Pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing required under the Federal Omnibus Transportation Act.
