The West Florida Division Medical Group, part of AdventHealth, is seeking a dynamic, board-certified Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director for its inaugural 2027 program. This position is associated with AdventHealth Tampa, the largest tertiary center hospital in the West Florida Division and the second-largest hospital within the AdventHealth system.

About the Role

AdventHealth Tampa is committed to expanding its Graduate Medical Education (GME) footprint. Recent additions include the inaugural classes of the Internal Medicine and General Surgery Residency Programs in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Additionally, Family Medicine Residency opportunities were launched at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel in 2024 and AdventHealth Ocala in 2025, enhancing regional medical education.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program curriculum
  • Oversee the daily operations of the fellowship program
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with other residency programs to promote interdisciplinary learning
  • Engage in faculty development and mentorship programs
  • Participate in recruitment efforts for fellowship applicants

Requirements

  • Board certification in Gastroenterology
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in Gastroenterology
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring residents
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Current license to practice medicine in the state of Florida
  • Passing scores on all required exams

Skills

  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in medical informatics and electronic health records
