Overview

AdventHealth for Children and AdventHealth Medical Group are seeking a dynamic and energetic full-time Pediatric Surgery leader to join their team at AdventHealth Tampa. This position offers an opportunity to build on a strong practice with AdventHealth's network of hospitals in the Central Florida division.

Responsibilities

• Programmatic development
• Clinical quality and performance improvement
• Call coverage at AdventHealth Tampa with full-time APP support (no trauma, no ECMO at Tampa)
• Help grow the outpatient clinic practice and further develop relationships with community physicians with marketing support
• Grow the pediatric surgery team based in Orlando to support the full-time surgeon in Tampa

Requirements

• Fellowship training in Pediatric Surgery
• Board certification in Pediatric Surgery through American Board of Surgery
• Broad surgical technical skills
• Willingness to build the program

• Excellent communication skills

Practice Description

This is an employment opportunity that includes the benefits of second call coverage and competitive compensation. Hospital Description

AdventHealth Tampa is a not-for-profit 536-bed tertiary hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, primarily serving Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, and other surrounding counties. The hospital specializes in cardiovascular medicine, digestive health, neuroscience, orthopedics, women’s services, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine and general surgery including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures. Our Children’s units in Tampa include five PICU beds, 15 pediatric beds and 28 NICU beds. Also located at AdventHealth Tampa is the renowned AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute, a recognized leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and leading-edge research. The modern adult and pediatric-dedicated emergency rooms introduce the emergency physician at the beginning of the visit, an example of how AdventHealth Tampa is committed to providing compassionate and quality healthcare. AdventHealth for Children

As part of AdventHealth Tampa’s collaboration with the Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children, patients will have the support of a full-service, tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, more than 30 peds ICU beds with a dedicated peds CICU, a 102 bed NICU, 17 bed pediatric emergency department and statewide pediatric network and transport system. We started our comprehensive pediatric open heart program in 2012 and have a strong track record of positive outcomes. We also have several key destination programs including our level IV Epilepsy program, the region’s only BMT and solid organ transplants including kidney and liver, and we increased Orlando area NICU beds to 150 total in 2017. Our unparalleled network consists of 30 hospitals across the state with one children’s hospital at the center totals over 23,000 births and several extremely successful pediatric subspecialty programs including outreach clinics. These 30 hospitals refer patients for tertiary and quaternary services to our main location near downtown Orlando. Our newest program has brought pediatric liver transplant services to Central Florida. In 2019 through 2024, AdventHealth for Children is recognized by US News and World Report as the best Children’s Hospital for newborn care in Florida.
