Position Summary
The Talent & Training Manager supports the development, onboarding, and ongoing effectiveness of Junior Achievement of Nevada (JANV) employees while helping build organizational capacity through training, cross-training, and operational support. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, this role develops and coordinates employee training, supports new hires through a successful transition into the organization, and helps ensure team members have the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to perform effectively in their roles.
Essential Functions
Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training programs that strengthen employee knowledge, skills, effectiveness, and professional development
Develop and deliver engaging training presentations, resources, and supporting materials based on organizational and employee needs
Evaluate training effectiveness through participant feedback, post-training surveys, performance measures, and other relevant data; identify opportunities to continuously strengthen training and development efforts
Manage the organizational training calendar, communications, completion records, certifications, and other training documentation
Identify and research new approaches, resources, and opportunities that support employee development, engagement, and retention
Partner with department leaders to understand evolving team and training needs and develop appropriate support
Obtain and maintain certification as a CPR/First Aid instructor and provide training to JANV staff as needed
Onboarding & Talent Support
Care for the onboarding experience for new employees, helping ensure a welcoming, organized, and successful transition into JANV
Provide new hires with relevant organizational information, policies, schedules, resources, technology access, and onboarding materials and ensure required documentation is completed
Help new employees understand JANV's mission, programs, organizational practices, and expectations and connect them with the appropriate resources and team members throughout onboarding
Support recruiting and hiring activities as needed, including participation in hiring committees and coordination with organizational leaders
Maintain appropriate employee training, onboarding, and certification records while handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Operational Cross-Training & Organizational Support
Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of JANV programs, processes, and operational practices to support effective cross-functional collaboration and organizational continuity
Become fully cross-trained in ELC operations, including preparation and setup, simulation delivery, and other processes necessary to provide effective operational coverage
Provide hands-on support across ELC and other organizational operations when additional coverage or capacity is needed
Crosstrain in key organizational functions and processes to help strengthen team flexibility, knowledge sharing, and continuity
Identify opportunities to improve processes, documentation, cross-training, and operational efficiency in partnership with the Senior Vice President of Operations and other team leaders
Maintain a flexible, team-oriented approach to emerging organizational needs and step in to support priorities outside of primary responsibilities when appropriate
Collaboration & Organizational Effectiveness
Partner closely with the Senior Vice President of Operations, Director of Education, and other organizational leaders to understand priorities, identify needs, and support achievement of JANV goals
Build collaborative relationships across departments and serve as a trusted resource for employees navigating training, onboarding, and organizational processes
Communicate emerging issues, changing needs, resource gaps, or other factors that may affect organizational goals and recommend potential solutions
Support the development, documentation, and communication of organizational policies, procedures, training resources, and operational practices
Use feedback, organizational data, and employee and stakeholder input to identify opportunities to strengthen training, onboarding, and operational support
Maintain productive relationships with relevant external partners, vendors, and community organizations that support JANV's training and operational needs
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience
Experience in training, learning and development, employee development, onboarding, operations, education/program delivery, or a related area
Demonstrated experience facilitating training, presentations, workshops, or other learning experiences for adults
Strong organizational and project-management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, schedules, and details simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including confidence facilitating groups and presenting information clearly
Demonstrated flexibility, initiative, and willingness to learn unfamiliar areas of an organization and provide hands-on support where needed
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify needs, develop practical solutions, and follow through on implementation
Ability to work independently while remaining highly collaborative and responsive to team and organizational needs
Experience handling sensitive or confidential information with appropriate discretion
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and comfort learning and utilizing database, HR, training, and other organizational systems
Willingness and ability to become certified as a CPR/First Aid instructor and provide training to JANV employees
Ability to successfully complete required background checks and other employment requirements
Desired Qualifications
Experience supporting employee training, professional development, onboarding, or talent-development initiatives
Experience working within a nonprofit, education, youth-serving, or mission-driven organization
Experience supporting operational cross-training, process documentation, or organizational continuity initiatives
Familiarity with Experiential Learning Centers, simulations, experiential education, or other hands-on educational programming
Familiarity with HR practices and relevant employment policies and procedures
Experience using training evaluations, surveys, or other data to assess effectiveness and inform improvements
Experience with D365 or similar database/CRM systems
SHRM or other relevant HR, talent-development, training, or facilitation certification
