About the Opportunity

The Talent Acquisition Recruiter provides full-cycle recruiting and consulting to FirstEnergy’s hiring managers across the designated business unit(s), with a focus on assisting in building out our Transmission organization.

Responsibilities

  • Hold strategic consultation meetings with hiring managers and develop job postings based on the responsibilities and qualification requirements of open positions.
  • Partner and strategically guide/advise hiring managers through the recruiting process from posting through candidate acceptance.
  • Ensure diversity is appropriately represented at all stages of the hiring process in compliance with FirstEnergy’s hiring process policy (HR Letter 202).
  • Post positions on FirstEnergy’s internal and external career websites, as well as on relevant third-party job boards.
  • Create and execute candidate sourcing strategies, including sourcing passive candidates and leveraging skills for sourcing diverse candidates.
  • Partner with various niche and community groups, as well as internal stakeholders such as Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs), Community Involvement, and External Affairs, to increase the diversity of candidate slates provided to hiring managers.
  • Partner with subject matter experts in the business units to develop a working knowledge of open positions across FirstEnergy.
  • Review resumes and credentials for appropriateness of skills, experience, education, and knowledge in relation to position requirements.
  • Develop job-specific pre-screening questions in conjunction with hiring manager’s requirements.
  • Utilize the SuccessFactors “Staff My Organization (SMO)” Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to manage the recruiting process, capture candidate data, and disposition candidates.
  • Conduct phone screens, interviews, and employee benefit overviews.
  • Provide guidance to hiring managers to ensure the recruiting process complies with State and Federal employment laws, and maintain thorough documentation of requisition status, candidates considered, and selection decisions.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates, especially in diversity arenas to strengthen sourcing approaches.
  • Create and foster relationships with diverse industry professionals and organizations to attract candidates to meet Affirmative Action and diversity hiring goals.
  • Serve as FirstEnergy’s main point of contact for various professional, community, and diversity-focused organizations.
  • Support the College Recruiting team and the company’s general recruiting efforts by participating in career fairs and other networking and recruiting events as needed.
  • Serve as an HR Lead for one or more ambassador teams as part of FirstEnergy’s Ambassador Network recruiting program.
  • Serve as the company’s main point of contact for external employment candidates from the point of initial screening through their ultimate disposition, including up to the point of hire.
  • Provide complete and accurate information to motivate candidates and promote FirstEnergy values, strengths, and opportunities.
  • Develop salary recommendations, in collaboration with the Compensation department as appropriate, by analyzing internal equity in relation to the candidate’s skills and experience.
  • Extend job offers to candidates and handle the negotiation of salary and benefit terms.
  • Proactively identify and recommend opportunities for continuous recruiting process improvements.
  • Continuously strengthen and learn new skills in the sourcing arena—specifically for diversity sourcing and creative sourcing strategies—and share best practices with peers.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality on projects and employee-related information.

The selected candidate may be offered a position within the same job family at a level lower than what was posted, based on interview results and relevant qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes experience in Recruiting, Talent Acquisition, Talent Sourcing, or Human Resources.
  • Full-cycle recruiting experience for exempt, professional-level positions preferred.
  • Demonstrated capabilities for successfully sourcing diverse slates of candidates is preferred.
  • Experience using creative sourcing strategies and resume mining.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Outstanding negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Sound interviewing, organizational, public relations, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems. Experience with SuccessFactors and/or Oracle ATS preferred.
  • Excellent presentation skills to highlight FirstEnergy values, mission, strengths, and opportunities.
  • Broad knowledge of Employment Laws and HR Policies.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Strong team-building skills and a positive contributor in a team environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet research. Knowledge of SAP highly preferred.
  • Able to work independently with a high level of professionalism and motivation.
  • Able to maintain composure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage strong relationships with a broad range of individuals at various levels of the organization.
  • Available to work before and after standard office hours as work requires.
  • Able to travel to attend career events and conferences when necessary.
