Systems Test Engineer - Level 2 or 3

About the role

Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a Systems Test Engineer – Level 2 or Level 3 to join the Eastern Region Systems Engineering organization in Fairfax, VA. The role synthesizes customer contractual needs into system test solutions, develops and directs comprehensive test plans, coordinates integrated testing activities, and performs technical analysis of complete systems. This position is onsite only and does not support remote or hybrid work.

Responsibilities

• Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for completing systems.
• Coordinates integrated testing activities.
• Reviews and evaluates test requirements to ensure completeness of the test program.
• Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system‑level evaluations.

Basic Qualifications

Level 2

• Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at the time of application.
• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or 0 years with a Master’s degree. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Experience with ground‑system software deployment, integration, and testing in complex, layered, cloud‑based environments.
• Understanding of requirements decomposition, verification activity planning, and execution.
• Ability to collaborate with software development teams to ensure understanding, reproduction steps, and resolution approach.
• Ability to proactively identify software issues, perform troubleshooting and root‑cause investigation, and generate detailed problem reports.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), Git, containerization (Kubernetes, Helm), and Java.

Level 3

• Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at the time of application.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or 3 years with a Master’s degree, or 1 year with a PhD. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Experience with ground‑system software deployment, integration, and testing in complex, layered, cloud‑based environments.
• Understanding of requirements decomposition, verification activity planning, and execution.
• Ability to collaborate with software development teams to ensure understanding, reproduction steps, and resolution approach.
• Ability to proactively identify software issues, perform troubleshooting and root‑cause investigation, and generate detailed problem reports.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), Git, containerization (Kubernetes, Helm), and Java.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Security+ certification.
• Adjudicated and active CI Poly.
• Familiarity with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Understanding of Agile roles and responsibilities.
• Expertise/understanding of Robot Framework and AWS.

Salary

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 – $125,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 – $155,400.00
