About the role
The Systems Technician provides technical support to users by expediting, assigning, or completing requests for support through emails, telephone calls, and our IS Ticketing System. Responsible for administration and support over Kern Valley Healthcare District's computer systems and/or network components as directed by the Information Systems Manager. Also performs routine hardware/software/network audits and maintains inventory records of all IS equipment.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems and productivity applications
- Apply system updates to camera system, access points and other systems as requested by IS Manager
- Installs software licensed for use by KVHD on all computers supported by the Information Systems department
- Troubleshoots hardware and/or software failures and assists as help desk technician
- Performs routine hardware/software/network audits and maintains inventory records of all computers, printers, scanners, monitors, peripherals, and networking equipment
- Provide training and support to end users and staff on equipment operation, software operation and other issues
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal/external staff, management, members, physicians/physician office staff, families of members, vendors, etc.
- Provides after-hours support coverage on a rotational basis
- Develop and deploy high level of security standards as described by the Information Systems department
- Supports organization and departmental goals and philosophies through active participation in team projects and support activities
- Establishes trust and cooperation with peers; maintains a willingness to work with others
- Promotes mutual support and interaction, and gains consensus with peers
- Consults and provides advice, facilitates discussion, and resolves conflict
- Performs monthly access audits by following the Information Systems department's monthly audit schedule
- Ability to maintain knowledge of and conform to company policies and procedures
- Accepts additional responsibilities as assigned
- Demonstrates attention to detail, accurate, thorough, and persistent in following through to completion of all activities, demonstrating initiative for completing work assignments
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
Qualifications and skills
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years' experience in computer operations/support required
- CompTIA A+ certification may be substituted for acceptable knowledge and experience
- Intermediate knowledge of Linux based operating systems
- Excellent computer skills required
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and interface professionally, tactfully and respectfully with staff and the general public
