Systems Technician

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly, integration (including fiber splicing), and testing of optical communication systems.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to support product development and testing.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
  • Build and test first article units.
  • Support laboratory operations and maintain test equipment.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including optical, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
  • Execute test procedures and record results with high attention to detail.
  • Aid in troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Requirements

  • Understanding of optical systems and components.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of quality control processes.
  • Understanding of ESD protocols.
  • Hardware builds.
  • SAP.
  • Inventory management.
  • Optical engineering.
  • Fiber optic splicing.
  • Engineering technician / mechanical assembly experience.
  • Experience working in a lab environment.
  • Experience with interferometers.
  • Lab management.
  • Continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Photonics, or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in optical systems or related technical field.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation and procedure writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in related technical field.
  • Experience with optical communication systems.
  • Knowledge of clean room protocols.
  • Familiarity with laser safety procedures.
  • Experience with precision alignment of optical components.
  • Experience in aerospace or satellite communications.

Skills

  • Understanding of optical systems and components.
