About the role
The Systems Manager oversees the administration, integration, and strategic use of systems supporting enrollment, learning delivery, client engagement, and digital credentialing for Virginia Tech’s CPE programs.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of the enrollment system, CRM platform, form processing tools, learning management system (Canvas), digital credentialing platform, and other integrated systems.
- Ensuring these systems operate efficiently, produce reliable and accurate reports, and support data-informed decision-making.
- Serving as a liaison between technical and functional stakeholders, collaborating with program managers, finance, registration staff, and external partners to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.
- Managing the department’s SharePoint environment for collaborative document management and overseeing DocuSign for digital signature and workflow processes.
- Utilizing Google Analytics to evaluate user engagement and the performance of public-facing systems and forms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise systems, including enrollment and/or customer relationship management (CRM) platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including experience with Microsoft SQL Server, reporting (e.g., SSRS), and database scripting.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, including designing, developing, and interpreting dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.
- Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience managing projects, including coordinating stakeholders, timelines, and deliverables.
- Experience providing user support, training, and documentation for systems and processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while managing multiple concurrent priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience managing systems within a higher education, continuing education, or professional education environment (preferred).
- Experience administering and integrating enterprise platforms such as Modern Campus, Salesforce, Canvas, and/or FormAssembly (preferred).
- Experience with system integrations, APIs, and data exchange across multiple platforms (preferred).
- Familiarity with digital credentialing or badging platforms (e.g., Credly, Badgr, Accredible) (preferred).
- Working knowledge of web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and ability to interpret user engagement and conversion data (preferred).
- Experience supervising staff, leading cross-functional teams, or managing large-scale system implementations (preferred).
Skills
