About the role
A Systems Engineer supporting the customer will work with and lead other engineers to design, prototype, and implement robust, secure systems using cloud computing services. A typical day includes work across different layers of the IT infrastructure, maintaining legacy systems, deploying open source packages, and collaborating on projects.
Responsibilities
- Work across different layers of the IT infrastructure (network, storage, database, applications, middleware and platform)
- Work with and lead other engineers across the organization to maintain legacy systems
- Deploy various open source packages and/or application stacks into the customer’s production system
- Collaborate with a technical group on projects from establishing requirements through to the implementation of the technical solution
Requirements
- Demonstrated on-the-job knowledge and experience with cloud services technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to include design, implementation, and integration
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with all of the following infrastructure principles: encryption (at rest and in transit), firewalls, and certificates
- Demonstrated hands-on experience and a thorough understanding of the system engineering lifecycle and software development
- Demonstrated on-the-job engineering experience and outstanding in-depth knowledge with the Linux operating system
- Demonstrated on-the-job knowledge and experience with all of the following infrastructure principles: fault tolerance, availability, scalability, continuous monitoring, and recovery
- Demonstrated on-the-job experience with scripting languages (e.g. Shell, Bash, Python) and/or ability to automate routine operations through scripts or tool sets
- Demonstrated in-depth engineering experience with troubleshooting and understanding of common web technologies (e.g. Apache, Tomcat, etc.)
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
- Minimum of 6 years related experience.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of and experience with enterprise-scalable wireless mobility solutions, multi-factor authentication products, and wireless intrusion detection systems
- Knowledge of and experience with cloud based technologies and administering cloud products and services
- Experience with networking (TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, RPC, SNMP, DNS, etc.) and proficiency with network traffic analysis tools
- Experience with setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting network services, equipment, and devices (routers, switches, servers, firewalls, etc.)
- Experience working and interacting with engineering groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for products, systems, or components
- Ability to apply critical thinking and use investigative mindset to comprehensively conduct technical CI review/evaluation/assessment of technology solutions
- Ability to present findings and/or recommendations in written reports that are concise, well-structured, and require minimal editing
- Ability to translate highly technical and complex issues into comprehensible terms to non-technical decision makers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in network evaluation and analysis, penetrating testing and analysis, digital forensic evaluation and analysis to include mobile device forensic (examining/imaging) analysis using commercial solutions such as EnCase, FTK, XRY, Cellebrite, MacQuisition, and Wireshark applications
- General understanding of Sponsor's current IT business processes and procedures
- Experience supporting the Sponsor's IT enterprise and operational requirements
