Systems Engineering Manager

About the role

Apex Capital is a 30-year-old company that builds and operates financial technology infrastructure for the transportation industry. The Systems Engineering Manager will lead and develop the infrastructure team, ensuring stability, availability, scalability, and security of enterprise infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. The role is based in Fort Worth, TX, with a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and advocate for the infrastructure team
• Set clear expectations, manage performance, and foster an environment for continuous skill development
• Maintain active involvement in infrastructure design, implementation, and operation
• Drive large-scale infrastructure initiatives from planning to delivery
• Translate business objectives into technical strategies
• Collaborate cross-functionally with security, database, software engineering, desktop support, and the Enterprise Architect
• Communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to leadership with clarity and consistency
• Own compliance adherence for applicable frameworks like SOC 2, and formalize operational disciplines

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
• 7+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, or a related technical discipline
• Experience supervising technical teams
• Experience operating in hybrid on-premises and cloud environments across compute, network, storage, and platform domains

Qualifications

• Experience contributing to or implementing compliance frameworks like SOC 2
• Familiarity with ITSM or operational frameworks like ITIL
• Experience building or maturing change management, incident response, or disaster recovery processes
