About the Role
The Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) team is seeking a Mid-Career Systems Engineer to join a multi-disciplined engineering team responsible for designing and certifying missile defense technology that could transform our ability to deter and respond to conflict.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate with a complex, multidisciplinary team of engineers, including representation from Aero, Thermal, Separation Dynamics, Loads, Stress, Trajectory Design, NG&C, FSW, Mechanical Design, Mechanical Integration, Initiation, Instrumentation/Telemetry, TPS, and Ground Test.
- Conduct regular working meetings, maintain schedules, and track action item closure.
- Support major program reviews including SRR, PDR, and CDR.
- Establish proper configuration and version control during rapid modeling revisions.
- Ensure sufficient analytical predictions are issued ahead of flight test to support immediate post-flight analyses, model correlation, and eventual model validation as allowed by flight test data.
- Orchestrate trade studies to inform changes to hardware configuration, design, and mission architecture to improve robustness and reliability.
- Support the identification, derivation, verification, and validation of requirements.
- Develop Specification and Interface Control Documents.
- Identify, maintain, and mitigate risks associated with AUR development.
- Coordinate and conduct frequent Customer and Senior Leadership briefings, as required.
- Support missile system analyses for mission planning and execution, as well as tests at various test ranges. Some travel may be required.
- Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems at all levels: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
- Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Requirements
- Technical degree(s) from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and training.
- Missile Development Technical Leadership Experience.
- Experience collaborating and leading multi-functional teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Desired Skills
- Strong Interpersonal Skills.
- NGI and GMD experience and technical knowledge.
- Experience throughout the engineering lifecycle (system definition, design, build, test, and operational deployment).
- Significant experience in one or more Systems Engineering functions including Requirements Development, Modeling & Simulation (M&S), Performance Analysis, or System Design & Integration.
- Experience with Missile Defense Agency Customer.
- Experience with Digital Engineering/Digital Transformation.
- Experience in leading strategic enterprise initiatives.
- Active or Current DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
- Proficiency in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.
Pay
GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role.
- GeoZone 1: $131,100.00 - $243,500.00 (includes metropolitan areas such as Sunnyvale, CA; Palo Alto, CA; New York City metropolitan area; Newark, NJ; etc.)
- GeoZone 2: $118,000.00 - $219,100.00 (includes metropolitan areas such as Denver, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Stratford, CT; Moorestown, NJ; etc.)
- GeoZone 3: $104,900.00 - $194,700.00 (includes metropolitan areas such as Dallas–Fort Worth, TX; Orlando, FL; Grand Prairie, TX; Marietta, GA; etc.)
- GeoZone 4: $94,400.00 - $175,200.00 (includes metropolitan areas such as Camden, AR; Lexington, KY; Ocala, FL; Lufkin, TX; etc.)
