Systems Engineer Principal

SAIC is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to lead the Space Reactor-1 (SR-1) Freedom and Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) efforts. SR-1 will demonstrate nuclear electric propulsion and provide a path to higher powered and longer duration Mars missions. The candidate will support the SR-1 PPE Lead Systems Engineer.

About the role

Work will be performed in Cleveland, Ohio, onsite at NASA GRC 5 days a week. Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Definition and oversight of PPE assembly, integration, and test (AI&T)
• Development of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) requirements
• Development of launch site ground operations
• Coordinate activities with the SR-1 Vehicle Integration team
• Provide insight and oversight of the prime contractor’s AI&T team

Requirements

• Completed at least a bachelor of science degree in a STEM-related major from an accredited program
• Bachelor’s and nine (9) years or more of relevant experience; Master’s and seven (7) years or more of relevant experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more of relevant experience
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

• INCOSE CSEP certification

Pay

Target salary range: $120,001 – $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
