Systems Engineer - Principal
About the role
BAE Systems Inc. Navigation and Sensor Systems in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is seeking Systems Engineers with a passion for engineering and a desire to support those who protect our nation. This position offers opportunities to acquire in-depth knowledge of GPS technology and receiver architecture, and to apply that knowledge in a team environment to develop cutting-edge navigation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and test GPS receivers for military weapons applications
- Manage a project’s cost and schedule
- Span all phases of the systems engineering life cycle including requirements, design, test development, integration, qualification, customer support, project management, and bidding new work
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline and minimum 6 years of work experience
- Solid understanding of systems engineering development process
- Project management experience including earned value
- U.S. Citizenship required
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher is preferred but not required
- Desire to contribute to a results-oriented product development team
- Highly motivated to solve complex problems and continuously improve
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills
- Ability to work well with a diverse, high-performing, and results-oriented product development team
- Experience with systems tools (DOORS, JAMA, JIRA, etc.)
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering
- Experience with modern software languages (e.g. C, C++, Python, etc.)
