Systems Engineer Principal
About the role
General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking an exceptional and experienced Lead System Platform Architect to join our team supporting critical missions for a unique SOCOM customer. This position offers the opportunity to lead a team of engineers in designing, building and implementing a secure private cloud platform tailored to the customer's unique operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers and administrators in developing and executing a comprehensive cloud smart strategy focused on establishing a robust and resilient hybrid cloud environment for a SOCOM customer
- Define the architecture, security posture and operational processes for the SOCOM customer private cloud
- Oversee application migration efforts and ensure alignment with DoW regulations for handling classified information
- Participate in project planning and management, providing technical guidance and expertise as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
- 7+ years of related experience
- TS/SCI clearance required
- US Citizenship Required
Required Skills
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory administration and Windows Server platforms (2016/2019/2022)
- Experience with PowerShell Scripting and systems automation
- Experience performing troubleshooting for technicians and/or end users utilizing Service Now ticketing system
- Strong experience with server virtualization (VMWare and/or Microsoft Hyper-V)
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across diverse audiences and influence cross functionally
- Competent to work at a high technical level on all phases of systems engineering activities
- Excellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through
- Experience in creating effective technical documentation
- Detail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work
Preferred Skills
- Proven track record of leading teams of engineers and architects in delivering complex cloud projects, specifically within private cloud environments
- Deep expertise in private cloud architectures, virtualization technologies (e.g. VMWare vSphere, KVM), and cloud management platforms
- Extensive experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture as applicable to private cloud deployments
- Strong understanding of security protocols, and standards relevant to DoW environments (NIST, STIGs, CMMC) specifically for private cloud implementations
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) and object-oriented programming languages (Java, Go)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $106,250 - $143,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
Schedule
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Travel Required: 10-25%. Telecommuting Options: Onsite. Location: USA NC Fort Bragg.
