About the role

The Systems Engineer (Junior to Mid-Level) - ASL - Open Rank position at our organization involves understanding complex military systems and supporting their integration. This role extends beyond requirements management to include defining system architectures, integrating subsystems, troubleshooting technical issues, analyzing test data, and leading small engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine system requirements and translate them into detailed performance design criteria.
  • Build system architectures and define internal and external interfaces for complex systems.
  • Integrate new capabilities and subsystems into military platforms, working directly with software engineering teams.
  • Support system testing and validation efforts, including the analysis of laboratory and flight-test data.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate hardware and software component anomalies to ensure functional correctness.
  • Lead small, cross-functional engineering teams on assigned projects.
  • Engage directly with customers and stakeholders to ensure system requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Experience designing or developing complex, software-intensive military, aerospace, or avionics systems.
  • A background in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, architecture, design, integration, and verification.
  • Experience integrating software with hardware and multiple subsystems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and isolate system-level issues in a defense or aerospace environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field with 2+ years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a similar field with 0+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with military avionics systems, sensors, Tactical Data Links, or Electronic Warfare systems.
  • Familiarity with avionic data buses such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet, or RS-422.
  • Experience with Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) or other aircraft training environments.
  • Experience using Python for data processing and analysis.
  • Experience supporting field tests to troubleshoot and solve problems.
