Systems Engineer II

About the role

In this role, you will contribute to the ongoing development of an advanced, leading-edge hybrid software system while providing technical guidance and supporting strong team communication. As the Systems Engineer II, you will operate in a technical capacity within a SAFe Agile development environment and collaborate closely with engineers across agile teams. This position is onsite in State College, PA.

Responsibilities

• Execute multiple aspects of the systems engineering full lifecycle process, including requirements decomposition into software functions, system performance analysis and trade studies, oversight of software development and system integration and test activities to ensure system requirements closure.
• Interact with the agile development team regarding technical considerations, risks, and issue closure associated with development of the system capabilities.
• Perform the analysis necessary to define and document requirements for software releases; work with the Requirements Manager to ensure up-to-date requirements traceability matrices are in place; assist in the creation/management of a project schedule based on development and release activities.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering Team and Developers to ensure software and system needs are being supported and coordinate additional assistance if needed.
• Contribute to testing, training, and implementation of new platform technologies and code quality methodologies.
• Assist the Agile development teams on best practices for software development in a Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CI/CD) environment.
• Multi-task, adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, effectively network, and communicate to the appropriate levels of the organization and drive processes to successful completion in support of schedules.

Requirements

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in Systems engineering lifecycle in at least one phase—such as requirements analysis, system design, implementation support, integration, verification and validation, deployment, or maintenance of large software systems.
• Experience with agile software development activities, including requirements specification, integration testing, and full life-cycle verification activities.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued DOD TS/SCI is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain a Polygraph after start.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience interacting with both programmatic and technical representatives for presentations.
• Experience with SIGINT, GEOINT, or Multi-INT Intelligence Community (IC) background with end user mission experience.
• Experience with maintaining technical cost and schedule for systems engineering and software integration activities.
• Experience in the technical role of a large multi-disciplined engineering team.
• Experience with cloud-based software architecture and systems.
• Experience developing MBSE design and DoDAF operational views for system overview details.
• Experience with CompTIA Security + Certification – Linux.
• Experience using Agile tool sets (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.), and evaluation of COTS / FOSS applications.

Pay

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD – 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
