Systems Engineer II

About the role

The Systems Engineer II supports our CTSE program, participating in the design, development, testing, and analysis of products, equipment, or processes. This role covers the full product lifecycle—from concept through development, deployment, and disposal—focusing on the system as a whole rather than individual components. The position involves addressing complex problems by considering all facets and variables, integrating social and technical aspects. The incumbent will assist in design, development, testing, and analysis under close guidance, applying basic engineering and scientific principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist system engineers with all aspects of systems engineering, including:
  • Requirements analysis
  • Systems architecture and detailed design
  • Simulation and modeling of complex systems
  • Preliminary and detailed design
  • Prototyping
  • Data analysis and process improvement
  • Integration and testing/verification
  • System troubleshooting
• Provide individual technical contribution and systems engineering leadership in the development of advanced systems across the full development cycle, from concept development and trade-off analysis to system performance evaluation.
• Support engineering project teams in pursuing new business, including defining advanced design concepts, preparing engineering inputs, cost estimates, and schedules for proposals.
• Utilize and maintain analytical models, develop new models, design tests, and validate performance simulations using standard or custom test equipment.
• Conduct research and prepare technical documentation, including recommendations or alternative proposals for action.
• Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including internal and external project teams, company personnel (Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Business Development), and the customer community.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Two to four years of experience, including hardware/software integration.
• Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, principles, and methods for practical application in solving technical problems.
• Ability to travel 20% to support projects, including outdoor fieldwork in varying weather conditions.
• Must be a “US Person” with the ability to obtain a security clearance; existing clearance is an advantage.

    • RF (radar, microwave communications, etc.)
    • Power systems (AC 120/240V, DC 5/12/24/28/48V, conversion, distribution)
    • IT and networking
    • Scripting/automation of tasks
  • Ability to translate customer needs and scenarios into solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in your field with specific accomplishments beyond team success.
  • Comfort and ease in communicating with customers/end users.
  • Ability to clearly articulate plans and actions taken.
  • Logical thinking in new or unfamiliar scenarios.
