Systems Engineer I/II - Quality Assurance

Responsibilities

QA Engineers lead investigations of quality deficiencies at Quonset and assist in issues affecting Quonset that occur in Groton, NNS, or with Suppliers. They develop recovery plans, coordinate efforts across departments, and ensure adequate corrective action is taken. They interact with customers like SOSG and NAVSEA, as well as Electric Boat Senior Management, through final resolution of emergent issues.

QA Engineers engage directly with Operation Teams to enhance or maintain first-time quality goals through data analysis, problem resolution, and corrective actions. They also perform pressure hull frame dimension and hull fairness measurement evaluations, lead significant issue problem resolution teams, and monitor corrective action requests.

They administer and act as liaisons for QIM (Quality Item Matrix) resolutions involving shipyard teaming partners NNS. QA Engineers support all quality audits, including certification audits, NDT audits, NAVSEA 08 audits, and more. They lead improvement initiatives and participate in special emphasis program working groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 0-5 years of postgraduate Engineering experience
• Must be able to read and interpret company policies and procedures
• Demonstrated computer proficiency in MS Office Suite and Engineering-related software
• Experience with SQL, Power BI, and/or Tableau
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense
• Experience on cross-functional teams, especially those focused on problem resolution
• Project Management or “Systems” Engineering experience preferred
• Knowledge of SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, and FBW SCS technical requirements
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions
