Systems Engineer - EEC Si
About the role
The Elgin Experience Center for Solutions Integration (EEC Si) is a hub where customer needs and technological solutions converge through the Systems Staging process. This role involves understanding, designing, and testing complex communications and information systems to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Be an active member of a team of developmental engineers, systems engineers, system technicians, and field personnel to understand, design, and test complex communications and information systems to meet customer requirements and schedule deadlines.
- Utilize the EEC Si workflow processes and procedures to program and integrate equipment for a fully functional systems.
- Drive the implementation, optimization, troubleshooting, testing, and auditing of systems throughout the staging process.
- Provide detailed system design drawings/documentation.
- Serve as the focal point for resolving product and system problems; provide hands-on support for system testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
- Develop new methods to improve performance, ease of installation, diagnostics, quality, and cycle time of complex systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Technology
- IT Systems Engineering experience
- Aggressive problem-solving skills and the ability to get things done in a multi-organizational environment
- Strong LAN/WAN, TCP/IP networking skills
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows environments (including Active Directory)
- Virtualization (Vmware/KVM) high-level working and design knowledge
- Knowledge of two-way radio systems, wireless data systems
- Motorola Communication systems experience
- LTE, P25, Tetra knowledge is helpful
- Effective communications, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Drive to automate things
- Basic Unix/shell/Python scripting skills are a plus
- Willingness to travel occasionally

Target Base Salary Range: $65,900 - $85,000
