Systems Engineer
About the role
The Infrastructure System Engineer (SE) is responsible for direct support of internal and external customers to provide technical assistance and be an active member of the sales team to represent the company solutions. The SE is responsible for pre- and post-sales support on product information, installations, and quality troubleshooting. Additionally, the SE is tasked with enabling the sales and partner teams.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with sales and marketing to provide pre-sale and post-sale application engineering support to enhance customer value.
- Travel to customer facilities with sales and marketing personnel when additional technical expertise is required.
- Create and update solutions presentations for end-user customers and consultants to promote CommScope’s product lines.
- Contribute new material back to the larger technical community for broader use.
- Act as a liaison between North America/global customers and manufacturing/engineering by forwarding customer technical requests and coordinating communication and follow-up with customers, Technical Managers, and Account Managers on results of requests.
- Interact with Enterprise System Engineers to gather and provide feedback on current market trends and design features that improve the marketability of the product line.
- Work closely with engineering and PLM for the design and development of new products with a particular focus on application support.
- Develop on-site warranty certification inspection documentation to ensure compliance with CommScope guidelines during installations.
- Provide training for installation partners and end-users in accordance with installation instructions and guidelines.
- Contribute to Enterprise Solutions product literature maintenance by identifying inconsistencies and errors.
- Support sales and marketing with any media activities, including writing articles for publications, assisting with advertising, or preparing technical documentation such as design guides.
Requirements
- Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer or appropriate field or equivalent job experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience (10 years preferred) with structured cabling, design, and installation.
- Good understanding of LAN/WAN systems and physical media requirements, including wireless applications.
- Up to 25% travel outside of the territory.
- Coverage areas of responsibility include IA, MN, NE, ND, and SD.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Certification BICSI RCDD, BICSI DCDC, BICSI OSP, FTTH.
- Experience working knowledge of Data Center functional areas (MDA, HDA, EDA, ZDA, EF).
- Familiarity with data center industry trends.
- Demonstrated experience with local structured cabling standards (e.g. ANSI/TIA 568, ISO 11801, ANSI/TIA-942-A).
