Systems Analyst Sr

Job Summary

Travis County Technology & Operations Department is seeking a Systems Analyst Sr to join the team. This classification is the second in a series of two (2) Systems Analyst classifications within the Information Technology job family.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Data Pipelines & Integrations: Designs, builds, modifies, and implements secure data integration processes using tools like SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
• Database Management: Analyzes and understands relational databases, troubleshoots complex T-SQL queries, and understands the principles of data governance.
• Business Intelligence Infrastructure: Uses reporting tools including Power BI, SSRS, and Power Platform to develop workflows, reports, dashboards, and more broadly “automations”.
• Process Automation: Develops alternative workflow solutions and business apps using modern low-code suites like Power Apps and Power Automate.
• System Administration: Manages application and gateway administration for live and test environments across Power BI Service and Power Platform environments.
• Requirements Gathering: Conducts deep data analysis and confers directly with end-users to gather detailed business requirements for new analytical dashboards and database solutions.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a directly related field AND five (5) years of relevant work experience, including three (3) years of systems analysis and process redesign work; OR, Any combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SSRS, SSIS, Power BI, Power Automate, Azure Data Factory.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of: Policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function. Federal, State, Local and County applicable laws, rules, regulations and guidelines. Information technology hardware, software and peripherals as related to assigned function. Automated business applications and their relationships to each other and interfaces with other automated systems. Software engineering and the software development lifecycle. Relational databases, database design and Structured Query Language. Data collection and analysis, and utilizing analytical tools. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook), Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Project.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift/carry up to 35-40 pounds occasionally.
• Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment.
• Exposure to variations in extreme heat, cold, mechanical, fume/odor, and dust/mites.

Work Environment & Other Information

• Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing, crawling, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, and squatting to perform the essential functions.
• Subject to exposure to variations in extreme heat, cold, mechanical, fume/odor, and dust/mites.
• Work Hours: 8 am - 5 pm, Monday-Friday.
