# Epic Senior Systems Analyst - IP Orders ## About the Role OhioHealth is seeking an Epic Senior Systems Analyst to design, build, test, train, deploy, and support Epic applications that optimize clinical and operational workflows. The role partners closely with operational leaders, end users, architects, technical leads, engineers, and IT teams to translate business requirements into reliable Epic configuration, integrations, reporting, and training solutions. The Senior Systems Analyst will help support safe patient care, efficient revenue cycle operations, regulatory compliance, and application performance while meeting established service-level agreements (SLAs). Depending on team assignment, the role may emphasize **Epic Application Build** or **Epic Application Training** and includes opportunities to lead projects, improve processes, mentor junior analysts, and provide advanced application support. ## Key Responsibilities - Gather and refine stakeholder requirements, map current-state workflows, and design Epic solutions aligned with operational goals and policies.- Create and maintain specifications, decision logs, design documents, and other documentation supporting traceability and change control.- Conduct gap analyses for upgrades, regulatory changes, and new initiatives.- Manage smaller system implementation and upgrade projects using waterfall, Agile, or other appropriate project management approaches.- Lead project teams and coordinate cross-functional activities.- Create and maintain comprehensive system configuration and process documentation.- Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on data analysis, documentation, and application best practices.- Configure Epic records, master files, profiles, rules, security classes, workflows, and related tools according to approved designs.- Maintain environment parity and follow change-management and build-naming standards.- Develop and execute unit, integrated, and user acceptance testing (UAT).- Log and resolve defects and document test evidence.- Validate interfaces, printing, reporting, downstream workflows, and regression coverage during upgrades.- Coordinate release management, environment moves, and downtime procedures for upgrades and patches.- Provide go-live and post-go-live support, including rounding, office hours, tip sheets, and at-the-elbow support.- Manage service requests and incidents while meeting SLAs through effective triage and root-cause analysis.- Provide advanced support for Epic, Workday, Kronos, and other supported applications.- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to integrate Epic and third-party systems, including imaging applications and AI-related systems.- Collaborate with interface teams on HL7, FHIR, PDF, CCD/CCDA, and other data-exchange workflows.- Partner with analytics teams on Clarity/Caboodle extracts, registries, and operational reporting.- Help ensure data integrity and consistent metric definitions across modules and stakeholders.- Support regulatory readiness, audits, and policy alignment, including CMS and Joint Commission requirements.- Support privacy and security controls, sensitive-record handling, and audit trails.- Contribute to ITIL-aligned incident, problem, change, and configuration management processes.- For the Application Training focus, design and implement customized training programs aligned with organizational and operational goals.- Oversee CareConnect curriculum maintenance, enhancement, governance, accuracy, and readiness.- Maintain training environments and communicate system releases and upgrades.- Manage end-user training requests and incidents, including evaluation, prioritization, assignment, resolution, and documentation.- Collaborate with IT and operational partners to identify support trends and implement preventative improvements. ## Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.- **5–7 years of experience** in system analysis and support within a healthcare environment.- In lieu of a degree, **10 years of experience** in system analysis and support within a healthcare environment.- Experience with Epic applications and healthcare workflows, including clinical, revenue cycle, or IT environments.- Strong requirements gathering, workflow design, and testing skills.- Familiarity with ITIL, change control, SDLC practices, system governance, and waterfall/Agile project methodologies.- Ability to communicate effectively with clinical and operational stakeholders and managed service providers.- Ability to produce clear technical and process documentation.- Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams. ### Additional Requirements for the Application Training Role - Epic Training Environment Build certification and 3 years of experience.- Two Epic Application Principal Trainer certifications. ## Preferred Qualifications ### Application Build - Current Epic certification or proficiency in one or more relevant modules, such as:- HB- PB- Cadence- Referrals- Orders- ClinDoc- Clarity- 3 years of Epic build and configuration experience.- Previous leadership or supervisory experience.- Experience with system integration, HL7, FHIR, and interface testing.- Exposure to SQL/Clarity, Caboodle, SlicerDicer, or reporting tools such as Radar and Reporting Workbench.- Prior experience in patient access, billing, coding, finance, or clinical operations relevant to supported modules. ### General Preferred Qualifications - ITIL Foundation certification.- Certifications in one or more Epic applications.- Experience in a large healthcare system or hospital setting.- Experience with other healthcare applications and systems.- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure.- Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools.- Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in a related field. ## Skills & Competencies - 5–7 years of system analysis and support experience within a healthcare environment.- Experience with Epic applications and healthcare workflows is required.- Application Training candidates require Epic Training Environment Build certification with 3 years of experience and two Epic Application Principal Trainer certifications.- Epic build/configuration experience and additional Epic certifications are preferred for the Application Build focus. ## Work Arrangement & Schedule -
