Systems Analyst 3

About the role

Responsible for maintaining systems and their associated operating systems for computer applications in Operations Technology (OT) Linux environments. Conducts analysis, creates system specifications, develops, tests, and implements operating systems. Utilizes existing or new technology in the automation of processes. Evaluates software packages and provides recommendations to management. The role supports both project delivery and ongoing OT operational initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provides operational support of the Mainframe, Windows, or UNIX systems computing environment, including OS and application software installations and upgrades, backup and recovery administration, user and peripheral equipment management, and troubleshooting system and application issues.
• Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.
• Implements machine modifications to increase system capacity.
• Compiles records and reports concerning production, machine malfunctioning, and maintenance.
• Advises on workflow plans, methods, and procedures analysis.
• Analyzes operating system monitoring results and recommends changes to improve processing and utilization.
• Performs procedures to ensure the safety of information systems assets and protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.
• Interfaces with the user community to understand security needs and implements procedures to accommodate them.
• Conducts accurate evaluation of required security levels.
• Monitors and responds to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems using testing tools and techniques.
• Provides primary interface with vendor support service groups or internal analysis and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or degraded system performance.
• Provides documentation for the support of information technology processes and procedures.
• Assists in the research and implementation of system administration software and hardware.
• Develops programs to support application and system operations.
• Provides technical input to assist in development of project planning.
• Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned, ensuring compliance with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or related technical field, or equivalent work experience (typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience for candidates without a bachelor's degree).
• A minimum of two years of additional directly related technical experience is required.
• Five years of related experience in Mainframe, Windows, or UNIX operating systems support and analysis.

• Proficiency with PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Work Environment

General office environment with no special physical demands required.
