About the Role

The Department of Corrections (DOC) mission is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. This position will provide dedicated administration, maintenance, and oversight of the institution's critical technology infrastructure at Roderer Correctional Complex.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the management and optimization of complex agency systems, applications, and platforms, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments from planning and implementation to testing and documentation.
  • Independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Lead advanced implementation projects, design, implement, and maintain system configurations.
  • Perform research and analysis required for project proposals, software, and systems modifications, and new projects.
  • Administer and maintain security camera systems, Guard1, Lobby Track inventory management, x-ray scanner systems, WBI administration, telephone systems software, personnel software, Xerox print management, employee account provisioning, phone programming, employee cellular device management, and server administration supporting the perimeter fence control system.
  • Perform operating system maintenance, software updates, and ensure cybersecurity compliance.
  • Coordinate with COT on enterprise initiatives and system implementations.
  • Assess and mitigate technology-related risks and ensure security and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures, including backup strategies, failover configurations, and lead disaster recovery testing to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Develop and deploy automation scripts and tools to streamline routine administrative tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce manual intervention.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to IT staff members, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance the team's skills and capabilities.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to procure hardware, software, and services, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Requirements

  • High School graduate.
  • Four years of experience in IT systems administration, IT systems support, or IT systems analysis.

Substitute education for experience: Additional education in computer science, IT, or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute experience for education: Additional experience in IT systems administration, IT systems support, or IT systems analysis will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis, or a certification in an IT-related field will substitute for the required education.

Pay

$73,836.00 annually
