Systems Administrator Senior
About the Role
The Systems Administrator will team with peers, internal customers, and management to strengthen the consistency and standardization of IT infrastructure services to achieve operational excellence and program success. While this is an individual contributor role, collaboration and technical expertise are essential.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit enables efficient business and program execution—from strategic capital investments and industrial operations to state-of-the-art manufacturing, test operations, and facilities management.
Responsibilities
- Interface with internal customers, security, and management teams to maintain production systems and resolve issues with services and physical systems.
- Install, maintain, and support multiple Windows-based workstations and servers on physical and virtual platforms in support of program initiatives.
- Support engineering applications.
- Execute troubleshooting to address stability objectives both reactively and proactively.
- Maintain a secure computing environment, including adherence to backup schedules, patching, virus updates, and regular security scanning and remediation.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company.
- Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Work Environment
This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week at the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 4 or more years of related experience. Each higher-level degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education or US Department of Education.
- A current, active Secret security clearance is required.
- DoD 8570 compliance.
Skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and project management/coordination skills.
- Expertise in planning, configuring, maintaining, patching, and monitoring in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Expertise with Intel-based server-class and workstation hardware.
- Expertise with VMware virtualization products (vSphere ESXi, vCenter, vRealize Operations Manager).
- Strong documentation skills and the ability to interact cross-functionally with team members.
- Expertise with Microsoft Active Directory, including domain administration, group policies, and maintaining user and computer objects.
- Expertise troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and related connectivity issues.
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and execution.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Linux servers, scripting, and support.
- Experience with software license management tools.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters.
- Experience with engineering applications such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS HFSS.
- Experience with specialized network environments (air-gapped, limited access).
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $97,008 – $164,914. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors, including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
