Systems Administrator IV, Health Systems (Epic Tapestry, Referrals)
About the role
The System Administrator IV, Health Systems (Epic Tapestry, Referrals) supports the Clinical Care and Patient Engagement Technologies organization by serving as a senior-level subject matter expert responsible for the analysis, design, configuration, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic applications. This role evaluates complex clinical and business requirements and translates them into scalable, efficient technology solutions that align with organizational goals, Epic best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Leverage advanced analytical, technical, and workflow design expertise to lead and support large-scale projects, system implementations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve system functionality, operational efficiency, and the end-user experience while supporting all phases of the application lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, build, testing, implementation, training, optimization, and production support
- Collaborate with clinical leaders, business stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional IT teams as a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise to ensure the stability, scalability, performance, and long-term success of enterprise Epic solutions
- Perform system build, testing, validation, and ongoing support of assigned applications
- Conduct in-depth and precise investigation and documentation of future-state operational specifications and application functionality
- Perform analysis of application capabilities, workflows, data collection, report details, and other clinical and/or technical issues associated with Epic software
- Develop and document internal procedures used in conjunction with Epic applications
- Analyze clinical and business operations and investigate user preferences
- Prioritize and implement requested system changes and updates
- Serve as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff
- Collect information and prepare specifications of system enhancements
- Analyze functionality in new releases and test each new release
- Provide supervisory support of the system administration team

- Meet timelines to drive the delivery of appropriate, sustainable, and prompt solutions
- Assist technical and project team members to resolve system problems and application-specific issues
- Support the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems by performing complex systems analysis to identify problems, trends, and opportunities for improvement
- Provide first and second level support for enterprise systems by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex incidents; escalate unresolved or critical issues to system engineers
- Support communications with product users and suppliers to share information, identify opportunities, resolve problems, prioritize customer requirements, and maintain continuous improvement through customer feedback
- Plan and perform complex system configuration
- Participate in installs, upgrades, or decommissions of designated systems, products, and infrastructure
- Create documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information; ensure system configurations documentation is complete and accurate
- Plan the implementation of hardware and software changes into environments by performing impact analyses of system changes
- Support vendor support activities as appropriate
- Participate in and influence change management processes
- Define the maintenance, modification, and documentation of complex and advanced applications
- Support the development of guidelines to prevent and/or resolve recurring problems
- Recommend and execute performance tuning and optimization activities
Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years experience working with EPIC or comparable health system software OR minimum three (3) years scripting or programming experience
- Minimum one (1) year in an informal leadership role working with IT or operational teams
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care or related field and minimum six (6) years working in IT or operations (additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement)
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years experience in EPIC administration and configuration
- Three (3) years experience in the administration and custom configuration of large off-the-shelf applications or software packages

Pay
$103,700 - $134,200 / year
Schedule
Full-time, Day shift (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM), Monday through Friday. This position is designated as flexible and the selected candidate will be required to report to the assigned office in Greensboro, NC 3 days per week.
