About the Role
The Epic Systems Analyst III supports the Patient Access and Hospital Operations Technologies organization as a senior-level subject matter expert. This role is responsible for the analysis, design, configuration, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Prelude and related Patient Access applications, with secondary support for Epic Grand Central workflows.
The position analyzes complex operational and business requirements, translating them into scalable, efficient technology solutions that align with organizational goals, Epic best practices, regulatory standards, and industry requirements. The role leads and supports enterprise initiatives focused on patient registration, identity management, insurance verification, eligibility, admissions, patient movement, admissions, discharges, transfers (ADT), and hospital operations.
This role identifies opportunities to improve system performance, data integrity, operational efficiency, and the patient and staff experience while supporting the full application lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, implementation, optimization, training, and production support.
The Epic Systems Analyst III collaborates with Patient Access, Revenue Cycle, Hospital Operations, clinical leaders, business stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional IT teams to provide strategic guidance and technical expertise, ensuring the stability, scalability, interoperability, and long-term success of Epic Patient Access solutions.
Responsibilities

- Provide first and second-level support for enterprise systems by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex incidents to minimize system issues.
- Support stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems by monitoring for problems, trends, and improvement opportunities.
- Assist technical and project team members in resolving system problems and application-specific issues; escalate identified issues, risks, or problems.
- Plan and perform complex system configuration, including maintenance, refresh activities, installations, upgrades, or decommissioning.
- Support communications with product users and suppliers to share information, resolve problems, prioritize requirements, and maintain continuous improvement.
- Assist with application-oriented administration and technical support for production and non-production environments, including vendor support activities.
- Recommend and execute performance tuning and optimization activities.
- Create and review documentation of system configuration and procedural information.
- Analyze clinical and business operations, investigate user preferences, and prioritize and implement system changes and updates.
- Develop and document internal procedures, specifications for system enhancements, and functionality in new releases; test each new release.
- Serve as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff.
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with Epic or comparable health system software OR minimum two (2) years of scripting or programming experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care, or related field AND minimum three (3) years of experience in IT or operations. Additional equivalent work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience in Epic administration and configuration.
- Two (2) years of experience in the administration and custom configuration of large off-the-shelf applications or software packages.

Schedule
- Full-time, standard worker schedule.
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
- Shift: Day (Monday–Friday, 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM).
- Work setting: Flexible (worker location must align with Kaiser Permanente’s Authorized States policy).
Pay
Pay range: $89,400 – $115,610 per year. Actual base pay determined at offer will be based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate’s years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
