Systems Administrator
Position Summary
A Systems Administrator is responsible for the secure configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of campus computer management systems, servers, and endpoints. This position also actively provides technical support for campus technology such as IT systems, desktop systems, and classroom mediation audio/visual equipment for faculty, staff, and student users.
Essential Functions
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud desktop infrastructure, using Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Intune, and Jamf.
- Build, script, package, and deploy application software, while ensuring license compliance.
- Install, manage, and maintain physical, virtual, and cloud-based servers and services.
- Install, manage, and maintain networked PC and Macintosh computers and related peripherals.
- Manage user accounts, passwords, email, and cloud file storage.
- Participate in classroom mediation evaluation and design, installation, and maintenance.
- Train and assist users with hardware and software related issues.
- Work with departments and administration to organize and facilitate the device lifecycle of computer hardware.
Education & Experience
- Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 Year / Bachelors Degree (degrees in other fields will be considered with demonstration of relevant work experience).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and independent learning ability.
- Flexible self-starter, able to think and work independently while acting as a team player.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Exposure to working in a customer service, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Recent experience and proficiency in the installation and management of multiple servers (especially Windows and Linux) in an enterprise environment desired.
- Recent experience and proficiency in the installation, configuration, and management of networked Windows and Macintosh computers and related peripherals.
- Experience working with audio/visual equipment such as projectors and audio receivers is desired.
- Demonstrated experience in training and assisting network users.
- 3 years of experience.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Preferred experience working with Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions.
- Preferred demonstrated experience in the installation, configuration, and management of networked software applications.
- Preferred working knowledge of operating system scripting languages such as CMD, PowerShell, and Bash.
- Preferred proficient knowledge of computer platforms and software packages.
